Who We Are

Bassin Zim EDF was created in 1993 in Boston with the purpose of:

  • Building awareness among Haitians and non Haitians about what was going on in Haiti with Grassroots organizations – mainly peasants – in Haiti under the military dictatorship of that time.

  • Raising funds to support projects in different areas.

We received contributions from many individuals and foundations including: Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), Oxfam America, Pond Foundation, Grassroots International, Funding Exchange, and others.

Our partners in Haiti include: KOSMIKA( a farmers cooperative), ASTRAL (a food transportation co-op) and the Peasant Movement of Papaye (MPP).
